Mason is a southwestern Ohio city in Warren County and is just over 20 miles outside of the major city of Cincinnati. Approximately 31,000 residents call Mason home. They enjoy hot summers and frigid, snowy winters. Mason is part of the Cincinnati-Dayton Metropolitan Region, which is the 14th-largest urban area in the country.

A Brief History of Mason

Revolutionary War veteran William Mason purchased just over 640 acres in 1803 in what is now the city of Mason. In the next decade, he platted 16 of those acres for a small town that he called Palmira. He decreed in his will that 40 more acres would be added to Palmira after his death and the town would be expanded. This happened according to plan; however, there was already a Palmyra in Ohio and the name was changed to Mason in 1835. The area remained a small farming town until the 1990s. It was officially incorporated as a city in 1971.
